\n\tAt our training sessions for PASS leaders we ask student to recommend apps\/ websites\/ software they use to assist them in their studies.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tHere are 10 of them: These are not reviews just a list with links. I’ve not used all of these apps or checked their terms and conditions.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t1. Tinyscan
\n<\/h2>\n

\n\tAvailable for Apple\/ Android\n<\/p>\n

\n\tTurns your mobile phone into a scanner making pdf documents from multiple pictures.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t2. What’s app
\n<\/h2>\n

\n\tAvailable for Android, Apple, Blackberry, Windows\n<\/p>\n

\n\tSupports group chat. Some the students have set up ‘What’s app’ groups with PASS groups or friends from their course. Using mobile phones they can exchange questions, comments and provide mutual support.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t3. Colornote
\n<\/h2>\n

\n\tAvailable for Android.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBasically coloured post-it notes for your phone.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tApps available for Android, Apple, Windows\n<\/p>\n

\n\tBrings together notes, webpages, pictures etc. in any form. Ships as a standalone application in Microsoft Office; mobile apps can be used to view\/ amend notes online.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tAlternatives include Evernote which is free for the basic level service with subscriptions for improved functionality. https:\/\/evernote.com\/<\/a>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t5. TED Talks
\n<\/h2>\n

\n\tApps available for Android, Apple, Blackberry, Windows\n<\/p>\n

\n\tTED talks are basically online lectures. Students see TED talks as a mark of quality and interest— hopefully they don’t see them as infallible!\n<\/p>\n

\n\t6. Googledocs
\n<\/h2>\n

\n\tApps available for Andoid, Apple\n<\/p>\n

\n\tCollaborate on group projects with documents, spreadsheets and presentations.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t7. Refme
\n<\/h2>\n

\n\tApps available for Apple and Android.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tFree online servce that puts references into different formats e.g. Harvard based on a doi, ISBN etc. Can also be used to scan journal\/ book barcodes and generate references.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t8. Easybib
\n<\/h2>\n

\n\tAvailable for Apple and Android\n<\/p>\n

\n\tSimilar to Refme. Generates whole bibliography. Some free and some pro services.\n<\/p>\n

\n\t9. Photomath
\n<\/h2>\n

\n\tAvailable for Apple, Android and Windows. Solve mathematical problems by taking a mobile phone photograph of the problem. Apparently being developed to solve increasing more complex problems.\n<\/p>\n
