My great-great uncle Price Wallator Carter (1898-1971) was born in Forden, Montgomeryshire, Wales. His parents were Andrew Wallator Carter, (a coal and lime merchant at the time of the 1911 census), and Lizzie Price. His somewhat unusual middle name, shared with a number of male relatives, came courtesy of his grandmother Martha Wallator (1832-1913).

In October 1918 he was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Regiment of Artillery.[1] I am not sure if he saw active service, but after the war he studied Botany at the University College of Wales, Aberystwyth, then went on to become a lecturer there.

His main legacy seems to have been his series of botanical explorations of Welsh Counties, the last of which was published posthumously in 1999. He also published studies of Shropshire, Dorset, Herefordshire and the Isle of Man.

He died in 1971, age 73. He did not marry or have children.
