I have put together the ratios of applications to accepts for degrees in languages and\u00a0related\u00a0fields below (source UCAS). Students had six choices until 2007, then five choices from 2008.<\/p>\n

The ratios are not\u00a0necessarily\u00a0indicative of \u00a0'applicants per place' as the number of available<\/em> places<\/em> is not part of the\u00a0equation. However, it is probably reasonable to suppose that subjects with a higher applications to accepts ratio are more\u00a0competitive, all other things being equal.<\/p>\n
