I haven't done a good job a job on updating my website in recent months, but here is an article I had published earlier in the year (open access).
Canning, J. (2026). The potential of non-representational theories in student voice research. Discourse: Studies in the Cultural Politics of Education, 1–10. https://doi.org/10.1080/01596306.2026.2635393
I am observing a seminar facilitated by an early career university lecturer. She presents her slides then sets questions for the students to discuss in small groups. Next, she leads a discussion on the questions. Sometimes I struggle to hear what is being said by the lecturer and students as there is another voice competing for my attention. This voice is not human – it is the heater just behind my chair.
